Tahltan Artist
Peter Morin is a grandson of Tahltan Ancestor Artists. Morin’s artistic offerings can be organized around four themes: articulating Land/Knowing, articulating Indigenous Grief/Loss, articulating Community Knowing, and understanding the Creative Agency/Power of the Indigenous body. The work takes place in galleries, in community, in collaboration, and on the land. All of the work is informed by dreams, Ancestors, Family members, sonic territories, and Performance Art as a Research Methodology. Peter is the son of Janelle Creyke (Crow Clan, Tahltan Nation) and Pierre Morin (French Canadian). Throughout his exhibition and making history, Morin has focused upon his matrilineal inheritances in homage to the matriarchal structuring of the Tahltan Nation, and prioritizes Cross-Ancestral collaborations. Morin currently holds a tenured appointment in the Faculty of Arts at the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, and is the Graduate Program Director of the Interdisciplinary Master’s in Art, Media and Design program at OCADU

Animation Artist
Isaac King is an award-winning animation artist, filmmaker, commercial director, and teacher. Combining handmade and digital animation techniques, his work focuses on ecology and society for audiences of all ages. Isaac’s recent MFA thesis work incorporates outdoor animation and installation.
For over 20 years Isaac has been directing, designing, and animating short films, commercials, and PSAs in a variety of media including drawn, stop-motion, and digital hybrids. His independent films have screened at hundreds of festivals, been chosen twice as Vimeo Staff Picks, and won many top awards including the Annecy Public Prize, Best Short Film Award at Cinanima (Portugal), CromaFest (Mexico), Cineglobe (Switzerland), and Italy's VIEW conference, and Best Children's Film Award at Kuki (Berlin), Animafest (Zagreb), and Earthvision (Japan). His work has been awarded grants from the Canada, Ontario, and Toronto Arts Councils, and the NFB. While working as a director at Toronto’s Head Gear Animation for 15 years, Isaac’s work won multiple commercial awards including Applied Arts, OneShow Design, Art Director's Club, Lotus, Worldfest, NY Festivals, and Broadcast Design Awards.

Audio Engineer

José Miguel Contreras is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, actor, film composer, and amazing songwriter currently based in Toronto. Contreras is best known as the only consistent member of By Divine Right, a tremendously significant band whose past contributors include Feist and musicians who went on to form Broken Social Scene, Holy Fuck, and Sheezer among many others.

AKA Artist-run
Naomi Bird (they/them) is a Two-Spirit Nehithaw person with ties to the Montreal Lake Cree Nation. Naomi is a masters student in the Indigenous land-based education program at the University of Saskatchewan.

Naomi’s has spent the last few years engaged in Two-Spirit advocacy work; they have co/authored a number of publications about Two-Spirit identity, and was the graphic designer for the 2022 Trans Sask Community report.

AKA Artist-run
Tarin was born on unceded Mi’kmaq land originally known as Epekwitk. She is a curator, living and working on Treaty 6 Land that encompasses the traditional homeland of numerous First Nations, including Cree, Dene, Plains Cree, Nakota, Saulteaux, and Ojibwe, and the homeland of the Métis Nation. Since 2014, Tarin has served as the Executive Director of AKA, working to understand the role of the artist-run centre in joint ownership with communities, as a space that is created and given meaning through the actions of its users.

AKA Artist-run
Derek Sandbeck is an emerging artist based on Treaty 6 Territory/Saskatoon, SK. He received a BFA from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011 and has since been pursuing his independent practice. Working in a wide range of mediums, his work is largely focused on ideas of environment and space. He is one of the founding members of Bridges Art Movement, a collective of emerging artists who develop both socially-engaged and gallery-based projects. Since 2015 Derek has served as the Gallery Coordinator at AKA artist-run, a non-profit artist-run centre in Saskatoon.

Goldsmith/Multi Media Artist

Ostoro Petahtegoose [they/them] is Nishinaabe of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and of European descent, born and raised at Waawiiye’adinong (the place where the river bends - Windsor, Ontario.)

Ostoro is a two-spirit/queer writer, Goldsmith and multi-media artist. They completed their English and Creative Writing and Visual Arts BA in 2022/2023 and was the Project Coordinator of the New Voices Artist Residency at the Arts Council Windsor & Region in 2022. In June 2021 Ostoro was awarded a grant through the Arts Culture and Heritage Fund to work on a research project on the Indigenous history of Windsor/Essex county to use in a manuscript of short ghost stories, which continues to be ongoing today (2023).
